As the Principal of Ontario Virtual School (OVS), I cannot tell you how proud I am to work with a team of experienced teachers who are all committed to providing a thriving educational environment that supports all learners, maintains high expectations for all, and strives to develop caring, compassionate global citizens.
OVS has been operating since 2010 and our vision remains the same: “Through the use of technology empower all learners so that they can experience academic success.”
We aim to propel students to achieve their highest academic potential at their own pace which supports their specific learning style and needs. The inspiration behind launching OVS originates from recognizing that there was a need for an online school that could better meet the needs of students in Ontario. For example students who cannot attend classes on a regular basis due to personal/family reasons, health/emotional reasons, athletic commitments or full time jobs can still reap the benefits of a learning experience. Ontario Virtual School also assists students with upgrading their marks in challenging courses in order to improve their understanding and increase their chances of gaining acceptance into competitive post-secondary programs. Knowing that we are able to serve our community in supporting their academic goals; whether it is to go to a post-secondary institution, go into a trade or apprenticeship, join the workforce or simply graduate from high school, is a very rewarding feeling. What is Ontario Virtual School
(OVS)?
Ontario Virtual School is an accredited online high school operating since 2010 and has grown to an annual student population of 10000*. We provide a rich variety of high school courses leading to an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. OVS students register for a much broader range of reasons, all of which signal the diversity of needs that OVS is serving. This includes students who are seeking to ill out a few courses in addition to their current school work, those striving to
upgrade existing marks, reach ahead, mature students, international students, and those who are scheduling around other commitments, from elite athletics to time
spent in medical care. Our students can register for a course at any time of the year and can complete a course in as little as 4 weeks or take up to 12 months. This allows for students to develop their own pace and schedule. All learning
materials and textbooks are included in the course fees.

How does it work?
Students may enroll on any day of the year and begin the course
immediately. This model allows students to work at their own pace
and on their own schedule with the support of qualified teachers.

• OVS lessons are fully animated, narrated, and interactive online videos
• Courses are accessible online 24/7, 365 days a year from any
where in the world
3. Complete required course work
• Course work (tests and assignments) are downloaded by the
student and once completed, uploaded to the course dropbox.
• Students and parents receive on-going feedback and mark
updates by email.
4. Complete final summative/ proctored exam
• For courses that have final exams, a proctor will be required.
• A proctor is a professional like a librarian, engineer, teacher, etc…
who will supervise the student during the exam.
• International students may use proctors in their own country.
5. Receive final report card
• A copy of the final report card will be mailed to the student,
their home school, and upon request additional report cards
can be mailed to post-secondary institutions
